Turkish Red Crescent became the first team to arrive at the region following the earthquake with 7.3 magnitude in Iraq. As well as dispatching emergency humanitarian aid materials to the region, Turkish Red Crescent commenced the efforts of needs assessment.
A donation campaign was also started for philanthropists to convey aids to the region. President of the Turkish Red Crescent, Dr. Kerem Kınık said, “We are following up the developments closely in cooperation with the Iraqi and Iranian Red Crescents.”
The Turkish Red Crescent gave the alarm following the earthquake with 7.3 magnitude near the Iraqi-Iranian border in 32 km south of the city of Halabja in Iraq and became the first team to arrive at the region. Arriving at the Derbendihan district of Sulaymaniyah to help the earthquake victims, the Red Crescent team made examinations in the area and distributed the humanitarian aid materials to the families whose houses took damage.
“3000 tents are on their way”
Stating that the dispatches to the earthquake area are in progress, President of the Turkish Red Crescent Dr. Kerem Kınık said, “3000 tents, 10,000 blankets, 1 mobile kitchen, 3000 heaters and 10,000 beds have been loaded on the trucks at the warehouses of Disaster Management Centers in Adana, Muş and Elazığ. We are cooperating with the Iraqi and Iranian Red Crescents. We have also started dispatching to the area from our Northern Iraq Erbil warehouses. We are following up the developments closely in cooperation with the Iraqi and Iranian Red Crescents. And our teams arrived at the area and started the damage and needs assessment.”
